The Reforest Program, in partnership with Business Event Cairns & Great Barrier Reef, is a leading carbon removal and nature repair initiative. This platform empowers you to host eco-friendly events, ensuring you leave Cairns better than you found it. Their engaging and personalised program supports authentic local ecosystem restoration, including the native habitat for the Tree Kangaroo in the Mabi Rainforest.

Journey to the Mabi Rainforest

On Friday, January 31st, our team, including Katy Vidler (Event Services Director), Amy Dreckow (Event Planner), and Melissa Belevski (Marketing Manager), joined various tourism industry representatives from Cairns to plant 3,150 trees at the Mabi Rainforest. This effort created a second hectare of tree kangaroo habitat and will remove 637 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the next 25 years.

Our team had an incredible day engaging with the Terrain NRM and Reforest teams. We also had the privilege of learning about the Mabi Rainforest from Renae Joseph and Nekaya Sebbens of the Tableland Yidinji People. Additionally, we witnessed the flourishing impact of previous plantings by Reforest.

A big thank you to Business Event Cairns & Great Barrier Reef for hosting the 2025 Mabi Forest Planting Day in partnership with Reforest and Terrain NRM at Wongabel on the Atherton Tablelands. Together, we planted a buffer of trees alongside the Kennedy Highway and began revegetation beside the existing forest.
