The Cairns Convention Centre is delighted to announce that Benjamin Boudaud has commenced as Executive Chef. Benjamin has an extensive background in Australia and Europe working in various hospitality models including fine dining restaurants and vineyards. He commenced in the hospitality industry in the south of France at just 14 years old, building his education and career before working at the Michelin starred Le Senechal de Michel Truchon in Sauveterre de Rouergue.
November is one of the Convention Centre’s favourite times of the year as we welcome many of our local high schools for their Formals and Presentation Nights. The Cairns Convention Centre recently hosted 300 delegates at the National Symposium of the Dental Hygienists Association. Delegates were inspired by presentations from well-respected, national and international speakers, discovered the latest innovations at the trade exhibition and caught up on new research projects in an array of poster presentations. Plenty of social networking was also enjoyed at the welcome drinks and gala dinner.
The Cairns Convention Centre was proud to be a host venue for the recent Targa Great Barrier Reef tarmac event. The Centre provided a plenary hall for driver briefings, meeting rooms were used for driver registration areas and conference rooms were transformed into the command and media centres. The IT backbone of the Convention Centre was used to constantly monitor vehicles during the race and allowed journalists to deliver up to the minute updates to social media and publishing sites.

The lunch aims to educate the wider community that people with a mental illness can be active contributors to the work environment. This year the lunch falls on World Mental Health day with the focus being on men’s mental health. The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST’s) Superannuation Investment (ASI) Conference was recently held at the Cairns Convention Centre. Three hundred delegates attended the conference with sessions relevant to trustee directors, fund executives and investment professionals who wanted to understand the latest trends, be updated on new concepts, and leverage investment opportunities for their members.

The inaugural event will be held on 31st August and 1st & 2nd September 2018 on a course of over 200 competitive kilometres, including the exciting range roads out of Cairns and Port Douglas, some of the most exciting roads in the country.
