Cairns Biggest Sign on Day, held on 16th February, was again a great success with more than 2,700 children and their families attending. This free, fun, family day out is designed to connect the city’s young people with sport and active recreation organisations, facilitating healthy lifestyles.The event which is supported by Queensland Sport and Recreation provided fourteen active zones, demonstrations, a mascot dance-off and some great prizes, it proved to be the ideal start to the sporting season for Cairns families.

One of AEG Ogden’s established convention centre executives, Janet Hamilton has been promoted to manage the Cairns Convention Centre, commencing 18th March 2019. This follows the appointment of long standing Cairns general manager, Ross Steele as venue manager of Te Pae Christchurch, opening in 2020.Janet Hamilton has successfully managed the Darwin Convention Centre during the past five and half years and comes with vast experience in the events industry. Ms Hamilton said that she is looking forward to working with a multi-award winning team and using her expertise to continue promoting the key attributes of both the city and venue.
