The International Behavioral Neuroscience Society (IBNS) 28th Annual Meeting welcomed more than 300 delegates to Cairns for five days of meetings, poster exchange and networking.Stress breaks proved particularly popular with massages and a puppy lounge for delegates to enjoy cuddles with furry friends. Funds raised at the puppy lounge will support the Young Animal Protection Society.
International Japanese-English Translation (IJET) hosted their 30th Conference at the Cairns Convention Centre from June 28-30. Topics as diverse as academic publication, interpreters for Aboriginal Australians, the arithmetic of translation, legal translation and monetary policy were part of the extensive program.There were also some light-hearted, hands-on workshops, one of which demonstrated the pitfalls and dilemmas of video game translation and ways it draws or differs from other genres of entertainment and technical translation.
