The Cairns Convention Centre was proud to be a host venue for the recent Targa Great Barrier Reef tarmac event. The Centre provided a plenary hall for driver briefings, meeting rooms were used for driver registration areas and conference rooms were transformed into the command and media centres. The IT backbone of the Convention Centre was used to constantly monitor vehicles during the race and allowed journalists to deliver up to the minute updates to social media and publishing sites.

The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST’s) Superannuation Investment (ASI) Conference was recently held at the Cairns Convention Centre. Three hundred delegates attended the conference with sessions relevant to trustee directors, fund executives and investment professionals who wanted to understand the latest trends, be updated on new concepts, and leverage investment opportunities for their members.
The Cairns Convention Centre is delighted to be involved in TARGA Great Barrier Reef by hosting the command centre, media area, dinner and Podium Finish. The inaugural event will be held on 31st August and 1st & 2nd September 2018 on a course of over 200 competitive kilometres, including the exciting range roads out of Cairns and Port Douglas, some of the most exciting roads in the country. It will highlight the beauty and importance of Tropical North Queensland through its TV Specials broadcast around the world.
ACCM-11 is one of the largest conferences bringing together industry and researchers in composites from all over the world. It was held at the Cairns Convention Centre 29th July – 1st August and included new contemporary themes such as Additive Manufacturing and Cement Based Composites together with extensive poster presentations and a trade exhibition.
The International Handbell Symposium recently held at the Convention Centre was an event that celebrated the flourishing of communication between nations, the spreading of the musical art of handbell and handchime ringing, and the spirit of peace through music. The event happens every two years, rotating between the member organisations of the International Handbell Committee (IHC).
