Creating Connections: Developing Personal and Social Capabilities’


The Australian Association of Special Education National Conference are offering a program that features a strong focus on families when it is hosted at the Convention Centre from 8-10 July 2018. They have invited family members of students with a disability to be present, participate and provide their insights into how schools can foster strong connections with families.

Earl of Whimsy


Bill Bailey will return to the Cairns Convention Centre with his ‘Earl of Whimsy’ set on Thursday October 11th  which will showcase his trademark blend of satire and surrealism. However it will have a distinctly historical feel featuring tales of Britain's fortunes past and present, ancient Viking battles, tales from his own ancestry and Shakespeare's contribution to comedy.We’ve also been told to be prepared for a huge crowd singalong, which will come as no surprise to fans.

International Symposium on Industrial Electronics


The Convention Centre has been electrified this week as 300 delegates attend the 27th IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics.   The meeting is bringing together specialists in electronics and electrical sciences, their  activities address the latest developments in intelligent and computer control systems, robotics, factory communications and automation, flexible manufacturing, data acquisition and signal processing, vision systems, and power electronics.

Bucking Bulls and Cowboys Thrill


The showdown came as twenty two riders, eager for glory, fought to overcome the power of the country’s 52 most extreme bucking bulls at the PBR Cairns Invitational.   Eight seconds doesn’t sound long, but in this fierce battle of agility and fitness, it’s like a lifetime.  The 4,000 strong crowd clapped, cheered and shared the pain as the riders fought for points, prize money and qualification into the PBR Global Cup.

World Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology Symposium


Recently held at the Cairns Convention Centre, the 2 day WFNMB Symposium focused on the role of PET imaging and radionuclide therapy in prostate cancer. The congress featured lectures from leading international speakers, including nuclear medicine specialists, radiochemists, medical and radiation oncologists.
