Decision Makers Visit Region

During October the Centre brought twelve clients to Cairns to ensure we are the chosen destination for their next event.

They represent six international and six national conventions with 7,000 delegates that would inject around $37m into the local economy.

The group visited the Great Barrier Reef, the tropical rainforest, Cairns Tablelands and undertook a tour of the city. Meetings with key business event partners in the region were also undertaken as well as sampling many local dining experiences.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Cairns Convention Centre’s 2010 group familiarisation.

Congratulations to the 2010 High School Graduates

The Cairns Convention Centre is delighted to be hosting many end of year activities for local high schools.

It is a very exciting time for these students and their parents and something we feel privileged to have the opportunity to be involved with.

We would like to congratulate the Class of 2010 at all high schools in the region and wish them the very best with their future careers.

On Another Matter

While you will soon see some required works being undertaken on the Sheridan Street side of the Convention Centre, we wish to assure the community that this will not impact on events taking place at the Centre or access to the car park.

Unfortunately it has become necessary to replace the current trees as their root systems are creeping into the building.

The area will be landscaped and replanted with Tuckeroo trees whose roots are non-creeping and also drought tolerant which is in keeping with the Convention Centre’s environmental aims and credentials.
