Centre Receives Gold Certification for Quality Standards

The Cairns Convention Centre recently secured Gold Quality Standards certification with the successful completion of an external audit through AIPC, the industry association for professional convention and exhibition centre managers worldwide.

Gold level is the highest level that can be achieved with only 13 venues from throughout the world having achieved this certification.

AIPC’s external auditor, Mr Rick Knowlan, a specialist in strategic management consulting said, “I was particularly impressed with the Cairns Convention Centre’s KPI report.  It is one of the best and most useful such reports I have seen in any industry.  The Centre’s Gold certification is a laudable and well-deserved achievement, and we commend the Centre’s managers.”

Convention Centre In-Market During February

The Cairns Convention Centre together with 13 business event partners travelled to Sydney and Melbourne on 3 & 4 February presenting an outstanding array of business events infrastructure to over 100 association, corporate and government clients. The annual Roadshow is a marketing initiative of the Cairns Convention Centre.

Two weeks later the Centre was at AIME, the largest meetings and incentive tradeshow in the Asia Pacific Region as part of the Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef stand. Thirty two meetings with prospective clients and media were held over two days.

The Roadshow together with AIME provided a wonderful opportunity to assure clients that Cairns, our business events infrastructure and the Cairns Convention Centre were unaffected by Cyclone Yasi and fully operational.

Centre Business Success Continues

The ability of the team at the Cairns Convention Centre to build strong relationships with their prospective clients through sales and marketing activities continues to be well rewarded with 20 successful bid wins over the last six months.

Some recent events confirmed include:-

· International Convention of the International Confederation of Principals 2013; 2,000 delegates

· International Symposium on Plasma Chemistry 2013; 600 delegates

· Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation Annual Meeting 2014; 1,000 delegates
