Convention Season Commences ....

Our first two conventions of the season have taken place with Greenhouse 2011 and the Australian Health Promotion Association National Convention being held during the last two weeks. In addition to the conference component of their visit, Greenhouse delegates undertook technical tours of the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef whilst the Health Promotion delegates enjoyed Zumba and Pilates in the foyers of the Convention Centre.

Often the community engagement that results from conventions being held in Cairns is not widely known as is the case with The Career Development Association Conference which commences on 26 April. The organisers have invited three local schools to participate in an art competition where delegates will vote via gold coin donation on their favourite student work with the funds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Taipans Make It All The Way

Congratulations to the Cairns Taipans who defeated the Townsville Crocodiles 93-83 in game three of their semi-final play-off last Sunday.

The Cairns Taipans will now face off against the New Zealand Breakers in the NBL Grand Final series, with the first game being in Auckland this afternoon.

Tickets for Sunday's game are now sold out.
